Connect ChatGPT to Odoo

Add the Odoo MCP endpoint as a custom ChatGPT app, complete OAuth, scan tools, test read access, and publish it safely for a workspace.

ChatGPT connects directly to the public Streamable HTTP endpoint. Use OAuth so each person works with their own Odoo identity and permissions.

Note: ChatGPT availability Custom MCP app availability, plan eligibility, developer-mode labels, and publishing controls can change. Use the current Apps settings available in your ChatGPT workspace.

Before you begin

  • The Odoo MCP server is enabled and reachable over public HTTPS.
  • Authentication is OAuth or OAuth + Scoped API Keys.
  • The Odoo user has Niyu MCP User access and the required access bundle.
  • The user can log in to the same public Odoo domain in a browser.

Create the ChatGPT app

  1. In ChatGPT, enable developer mode or custom app creation according to your workspace plan and administrator policy.
  2. Open Settings or Workspace Settings > Apps > Create.
  3. Enter a clear name such as Niyu Odoo MCP.
  4. Enter the MCP Server URL: https://your-odoo-domain.com/mcp.
  5. Choose OAuth authentication.
  6. Scan tools. ChatGPT opens the Odoo authorization flow when authentication is required.
  7. Sign in as the intended Odoo user and approve the requested scopes.
  8. Wait for tool scanning to complete, then create the draft app.
  9. Test the draft with a low-risk read question. Publish it only after reviewing tools, actions, and user access.

First test prompts

Use the Odoo MCP app. Show my current Odoo identity, authentication method, scopes, assigned access bundles, and exposed model count.
Use the Odoo MCP app. Resolve this question before searching: Which quotations are older than 14 days? Do not modify anything.
Use the Odoo MCP app. List the exposed models and explain why each is available to me.

Using the app

Start a new chat, select the app from the tools or Apps menu, or mention it in the prompt. ChatGPT may request confirmation before write or destructive actions. Keep high-risk actions disabled until the Odoo-side bundle and workspace action controls have been reviewed.

After module or tool changes

ChatGPT can retain an approved snapshot of tool definitions. After an MCP module upgrade or tool change, refresh or rescan the app actions. Some workspace plans may require recreating and republishing the app.
